Summer has arrived, this year, in a very particular way. After confinement, we do not know very well what kind of summer we are going to have, but in any case, we want it to be a healthy summer. For this, I want to give you some guidelines so that during this very special summer season, we don’t lose certain habits:

  • Summer is a time of great variety of fruit and vegetables, so we should not forget that advice of eat five servings of fruit and vegetables a day or apply the recommendation of the Harvard Dish, in which half of it is composed of fruit and vegetables. It is the season of cherries, peaches, melon, watermelon, tomato, lettuce, pods, and cucumber … A luxury of an orchard!
  • Little or no alcohol consumption; I know it is the time of cold beer, of sangria … But alcohol is not good for health, so the less the better. In addition, if you are going to drink, try to do it with food and drink little!
  • Try to maintain a routine in meal and sleep times. I know it is complicated, especially at dinnertime, since you are much longer on the street, but we talk about the daily routine.
  • Legumes that we eat so easily in winter tend to take the background in summer; However, it is convenient to keep the weekly servings of legumes, so I am going to give you a couple of ideas: we can incorporate legumes into salads or make hummus, which are delicious with vegetable crudités.
  • It is also a season of Oily fish such as bonito and sardines… ¡Always in your weekly meals!
  • For dessert or snack, we can make our ice creams at home with natural yogurt, seasonal fruit, nuts even with a little dark chocolate; they also look great with frozen banana and unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • Finally, let’s not forget the sunscreen cream and hydrate ourselves well (water is always the best).

Above all, Enjoy this season of the year very much! Good health to all!
